New Leash On Life

Dona Baker is the instructor for the New Leash On Life Program for the Craven County Correctional Institution.

This program pairs inmates with dogs from the Craven-Pamlico Animal Services facility.

Selected inmate trainers will be paired with homeless dogs and will prepare them for adoption by training them daily.

This eight-week program culminates in a dog proficient in basic obedience skills.  There is a public graduation ceremony and then the dogs go home with their new families.
